The diversity committee of Building a Better Bensalem Together (B3T) has planned its annual Unity Week for 2012. Area residents can visit several different religious institutions throughout the week.
Last year, B3T’s program coordinator, Shannon Hibbs, stated that Unity Week was created in effort to acknowledge and celebrate the many cultures that make up Bensalem Township. When asked to define the event’s mission, Hibbs went on to say that, “Bensalem Township is very diverse. We hope to educate people on our diversity and open more eyes to the different beliefs and faiths in our community.”
Unity Week starts on Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Day. According to a release, MLK Day is a great time to kick off diversity and unity within the community.

The B3T diversity committee addresses multi-cultural issues and recruits members in order to reflect the community’s diversity on the coalition.
In addition to Unity Week, B3T has sponsored many programs and events through the years including, the Bullying Prevention Program, the Free Family Movie Nights at the Amphitheater, Project ALERT drug prevention program, Supporting School Success and The Incredible Years parenting programs, Family Fun Day, the No Place for Hate campaign and the Lions and Tigers Show at Bensalem Pride Day.
