Bensalem Man Faces Assault Charges for Shaking His Infant
Bensalem police arrested a local man who shook his 3-month-old boy when he could stop his crying.
On Nov. 1, the Bensalem Police Special Victims Unit charged a township man with assaulting his 3-month-old infant boy.
On Oct. 12, Bensalem police and Bucks County Children and Youth began a joint investigation on the alleged assault. Aria Torresdale Hospital reported that they had an infant in their emergency room with head trauma. These injuries were serious in nature and highly suspected abuse. The infant was transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia for further assessment and specialized treatment.
Kyle Hinkle, 25, of the 1500 block of Virginia Avenue, was arrested and admitted to police he was unable to stop the infant's crying so he shook him up and down multiple times without supporting the infant's head.
Hinkle was charged with felony aggravated assault, felony endangering the welfare of a child and related charges. He was arraigned by Judge Leonard Brown and sent to prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The infant is still in the hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
