Fitzpatrick Applauds House Vote on Libya

Measure prevents President from using funds to deploy ground troops to Libya.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick Thursday issued the following statement after the passage of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Bill that would preclude the President from using defense funds to deploy, establish or maintain the presence of the Armed Forces or private security contractors on the ground in Libya, except to rescue a member of the Armed Forces.

According to a release, the amendment offered by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) passed with broad bi-partisan support by a vote of 416-5.

“For over two months I have been calling on the President to define the mission and engage Congress regarding our role in Libya,” said Fitzpatrick.  “And for two months the President’s response has alternated between deafening silence and empty rhetoric.  The American people and the United States Congress will not tolerate ground troops in a third theater in the Middle East without clear goals or metrics of success.  Today’s vote puts President Obama on notice of that fact.  The President needs to fulfill his constitutionally mandated duties and seek authorization from Congress on a clear mission that achieves objectives in our national interest. ”

Kateey - I can't even tell you how wonderful Mike is. He wants a transparent government. He is a humble man living in the same home in Levittown. Stop watching your brainwashing coma induced TV set and wake up. You are against a man that is trying to help you?! You are quite " out of your mind" if your so so worried about your mom, just know this- Obama is promoting euthanasia. In his health care bill & your 70 years old,you get cancer, NO MEDICAL HELP!
Mike is fighting to save your mom's life. He is fighting as many wars as he can, at home to stop the dictator from hurting people like you and me. My sister is on Medicare so don't go there with me!!. You should worry about everything that is going on around you- look up smart meters- vaccines- google spying on everyone- the military in our streets of Missouri( planned 2 years ago) - freedom of speech- gone- endless list. Wake up because if you don't, you and I plus our families are going to experience the end of our " America land of the free" people. I would like to see no more wars, the illegals kicked out of our country, especially the evil ones. They are walking over our borders and your president says don't worry "let them." they will not pick up the illegals & take them to jail for DUI"s. Our banks are running our country. I am sick to death of people like you that are letting the POTUS run our lives! You think Mike is bad!? Wrong dead wrong!. You are a fool. He will fight for us and you attack him, pathetic.

Great Job Mike. No war in Lybia. Get those men out now and do not let the president fight another war over oil. It's not about terrorism. Ignore the first writer. She is brainwashed and not educated well enough to know what is going on. Keep fighting for a transparent government. Don't let the banks run us and let small businesses grow. POTUS is taxing the small business people to death.

Dear Mike,
Please tell the Republican party to take their noses out of women's reproductive rights! How would you men like it if everytime you screwed a woman, a politician was letting you know he was watching your sperm and making sure you didn't spill any seed without planning to have a child? How about all the Republicans at the RNV who ordered Escort Services; anyone check them out? By the way, I am a Republican, but am thoroughly disgusted with a woman's body being anyone's business but the woman herself.

Stay out of Libya and Syria and let them fight their own battle. We have no more money to spend defending anyone else right now. We wasted enough money and lives in Iraq.
