Holy Family Hosts Job Event for Vets

The May 8 event includes Civil Service counseling.

The Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission will hold Veterans Employment Outreach Day on May 8 at Holy Family University in Northeast Philadelphia.

The employment event begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until 3:30 p.m., in the Education and Technology Center, 9801 Frankford Avenue, just down the street from the Andalusia section of Bensalem.

The Civil Service Commission grants employment preference to qualified veterans. Veterans interested in working for the state are encouraged to attend and bring a resume and copy of their DD214, certificate of release or discharge from active duty.

Morning registration is followed by a presentation that explains the state civil service application and testing process. Then, veterans who attend will have an opportunity to receive brief individual employment counseling from civil service recruiters.

An afternoon registration is offered from 12:30-1 p.m., followed by employment counseling sessions until 2:30 p.m.
