Missing Bensalem Man Found, Detained in Philadelphia
Marcian Newman who was last seen in Bensalem on Jan. 27, has been located by police.
Marcian Newman, the Bensalem man who was last seen on Jan. 27, has been located and is currently being detained in Philadelphia, police said.
"He is currently detained in Philadelphia, under an alias name, on criminal charges related to an incident in Philadelphia," said Sgt. Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Township Police Department's Special Victim Unit.
This news comes just a day after Patch spoke to Newman's mother, Sondra Yordy, who was seeking the community's help in locating her 35-year-old son who suffers from schizophrenia.
At that time, Newman was last seen on Jan. 27 leaving his residence at 1928 Arrowood Dr. in Bensalem.
Yordy said that it wasn't unusual for her son to leave the house to buy cigarettes or meet up with his friends, but that it was unusual that he didn't return home.
"I know he always goes out, but he always come back. And he didn't come back," she said.
Yordy first contacted Bensalem Township Police after Newman was missing for 24 hours, and the police had called on the media to help spread the word.
"We would like to thank the media for broadcasting this information as it lead to his current location," Sgt. Aninsman said.
