UPDATED: Motorcyclist Killed in Street Road Crash
Kyle Schwab, 22, of Trevose, was killed in the wreck. The victim was an Archbishop Wood graduate.
Saturday, 9:15 a.m.: The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Trevose resident Kyle Schwab, police told Patch Saturday morning. The victim's father is a police officer in Bensalem.
Schwab was a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster and, according to social media, had worked as a service technician and apprentice at Champion Chimney and Masonry in Philadelphia.
As of Saturday morning, the female driver of the Lexus remains in the hospital in unknown condition, Upper Southampton Chief of Police Ron MacPherson said.
The accident remains under investigation.
Friday, 10:42 p.m.: Friday evening as night fell, investigators milled around a damaged Lexus SUV that sat against the curb at the entrance to the Huntingbrook development off Street Road in Upper Southampton, just feet away a motorcyclist lay dead a short distance from his blue sport bike.
The accident that caused the rider's untimely death remains under investigation by police, Southampton Fire Company Chief Glenn McKenney said.
The wreck occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at Street Road and Heppe Drive, according to sources. The fatality appears to have connections to the area.
Residents of the nearby Trowbridge development told Patch, neighbors who heard the crash described it a sounding like a "gunshot." Passerby Tim Mirsch, of Bensalem, described the motorcycle as "demolished."
The driver of the Lexus, which was heavily damaged on the right side, was taken from the scene in an ambulance, a resident of McNelis Drive said.
Neighbors, many of whom gathered after hearing sirens, stood in the waning sunlight discussing the "dangerous" entrance to their neighborhood of town homes and their many near-misses.
Just yards away, police from multiple nearby departments, including several Bensalem officers and that community's director of public safety, arrived at the scene as accident investigation was beginning.
Firefighters responded to the scene to provide lighting and a ladder truck so police could take aerial photographs for their investigation.

Tragic.
We all have heard that any of us can die and be gone in an instant. ANY of us regardless of age or health. So please take a few moments to tell someone you love how much they mean to you. If you have babies or children, give them a hug and tell them you love them. And PLEASE, NEVER give someone in your life the silent treatment. It's such a waste of time and energy. God forbid that person you're ignoring as a form of your "punishment," dies unexpectedly, imagine the pain you will feel. (And if you think you won't agonize over ignoring that person while she/he was alive, YOU have some deep-rooted issues).
My prayers to ALL involved as well as their families and friends.

very well said , I lost my son unexpectedly and we had had "words" with each other the last time I saw him alive and I didn't talk to him for a few days , I do live with that every day and it is torture .
Please EVERYONE , slow down - be considerate of other drivers , whether on a motorcycle , bike or car , everyone has someone that would miss them if they go . We have gotten so aggressive on our roads , and very careless .

You're right, Mike. I saw the scene very shortly after it happened. I was looking to see the "other car" involved in the accident after I saw the SUV. To my horror, I saw what remained of the mangled bike and then I saw the biker. I can't get the image out of my head still.
It's very important to drive safely (and wear seatbelts in cars and helmets on bikes) and mind traffic patterns and laws. People are fragile. I believe that many don't see that these days. We all need to be more careful and loving to each other. Lord knows that seeing that accident made me spend a lot more time with my kids and husband last night.
My prayers are with the Schwab family and the people in that SUV as well.

Drove by and saw the motorcycle-Wow- it was demolishished, it's ashame because it was probaly the lexus's fault as it looks like it pulled in front of the bike,, Poor guy did'nt have a chance.. May he R.I. P.!
And I say this because if you look at the lexus and the damage it's obvious he hit the side of the car and being that he was traveling on street road he had the right of way, and this stupid ass just pulled right out in front of him... I lived in that delvelopment for 2 yrs

i live in the development too. the motorcyclist was doing over 100 mph when it hit the lexus weaving in and out as descibed by witnesses. if you live in here you couldnt possibly have the time to account for that kind of speed coming at you. she was almost in the development when he hit her. i was there talking to people who saw it.

What a tragedy all around. I really feel for the people in the Lexus having to live with this memory. I am sure they probably turned into to traffic but the motorcycle was going way too fast. It's a miracle he didn't kill anyone but I guess since the people/person in the SUV are still in the hospital we're not sure of that yet. He really endangered everyone on that road. It's a shame he suffered the worse consequences of a really poor decision. Most bikers are reasonable and safe drivers but some are just dangerous and risk the safety of everyone else. Just this week a biker passed several cars and then me on the left in the fast lane on the Turnpike in serious traffic then turned around to give us a thumbs up. He could have killed himself or more importantly, hurt me or someone else. Seriously sad story, my heart goes out to the person/people in the Lexus and the family of the young man killed. We can all learn something from this.

Let the accident report speak for itself but Kyle was a safe and responsible young man, admitted to West Point, accomplished pianist, artist, student, son, humanitarian, and devoted best friend. He is someone everyone loved to be around. Our family grieves his loss as one of our own and sends prayers and condolences to the Schwab family.

I am terribly sorry for everyone that is connected to this accident. What a horrible loss. I live in Trowbridge which is right across the street from the accident. I saw the bike, the car and Kyle. I was sick just knowing that someone lost their life. The stretch of Street Rd where this occurred is a wide open stretch where accidents are way to common and I hope the local government addresses this. Sticking an unmanned cop car with a speed signaling device it just not cutting it. Something needs to happen.
Thoughts and prayers to Kyles family !!!!

I live in Huntingdon Brook and find that intersection dangerous at best. The township should not allow Westbound Street Road traffic to turn left there. I often go past the intersection and turn Left at Gravel Hill just to be safe.

@GG. Street Rd and Gravel Hill is trecherous too. I see accidents there all to often as well. Once in a while a cop sits in the driveway of that little Quaker Church but again it's pretty useless. Some dramatic traffic control needs to happen in this area..... JMO.

I am so sorry for your loss Katie!
I dont know what caused the accident. It seems like a lot of people commenting on here have all the answers on where to place the blame. Well, to all of you who are so quick to judge, sometimes an accident is an accident. I am blown away by what happened here, but please... we do not need to place blame so quickly!

As a parent of one of his friends, I had the pleasure of meeting Kyle when he was in High School. At their graduation, I insisted that I have my picture taken with him because I knew then this kid was gonna be somebody. I would refer to him as Senator Schwab.
We stayed in touch with Kyle throughout the years and my respect and admiration for this increcible young man continued to grow. My family and I are deeply saddened by this terrible tragedy and the loss of this great man.
The only comfort I can find today is in the fact that I know he went straight to heaven.
God Bless you Kyle, you became far more than I ever expected.

I leave in Trowbridge, it is a development right across the street from the place the accident took place and i was on the scene right after it happened as i heard a sound of a crash and police/firefighters sirens shortly after. I am very deeply saddened over the life that was suddenly lost and send my prayers to those affected. In my strong opinion this place MUST have a traffic light as getting in and out of those developments is a constant gamble and every time it is near hit or miss.

Kyle's friends have started selling camouflage wristbands (similar to the 'livestrong wristbands) in his memory. The proceeds from the sale of these wristbands will assist the Schwab family with funeral costs. If you are interested in purchasing one of these wristbands for $5.00 please follow the following procedure:
Go to pay pal, sign up for an account (b/c you have to put down a payment method even if it's a debit card) then hit the tab that says send money,
it will ask for the vendors name; insert the name - Minnie61@aol.com.
You will receive a message that says verified member. You will then be asked a monetary amount (bracelets are $5.00 each), quantity, and what the money is for, you may write in 'kyle's wristbands'. Thank you for your support.

My thoughts & prayers go out to Kyle's family as well, but don't forget how tragic it must have been for the SUV driver! It's not easy being in an accident where you know the other person is dead. Living with that knowledge is just as difficult. Just because the SUV driver was involved doesn't mean it was his/her fault -- we've all been in the wrong place at the wrong time & there's no need to point fingers. We all need to remember to drive safely & keep our speed at a legal limit. A traffic light is a definite must for that intersection! & Once again, my thoughts & prayers are with Kyle's family as well as with the driver of the SUV!

Thes stories about biker accident, annd PA. bike riders, are beyond sad, they are beyond tragic. But I wish to remind PA. driver's that there are hunderds of animals,(before some people get the idea, that I am compairing the lives of humans to animals, I am Not). I am making a statement about number of animals killed in and around Chambersburg, Franklin County. My daughter is trying to set up volunteers to go around and clean up bodies of dead animals on the Interstates and highways , in and around, Franklin County.
