What happens to the employees

Fire the bosses and executives and bring in volunteers that will save alot kf money! Why do they always want to get rid of employees who have a mortgage and families? Ezpass is a ripoff and a scam to gouge the public. Id prefer to see what iam paying and not find out later! Or do us a favor and eliminate tolls all together! We already pay taxes for highways and roads! We need money to pay our real bills like utitilitiez and mortgages!

The PA turnpike has been talking about this for at least ten years. Trust me, the workers have seen it coming or they have been living under rocks. Why wouldn't they automate a system and make it more efficient if they can? EZ pass is not a scam or a rip off, but now I know who the people are I see sitting in lines to pay tolls.

Here is a solution to the problem: Ban all non-EZ Pass drivers from toll roads from 6a-10a, and 4p-7p and c
harge them double. Getting off at 611 the backup is from cash tolls, not EZ Pass.

Another example of technology killing jobs.

Then again, they make a decent wage/benefits for cashiering all day.

Actually Kevin , getting off at Kop last Tuesday morning around 8.30 am the back up was caused by EZ pass not cash tolls. If people choose to use cash as to EZ pass why charge them more. This is the problem with this country.

From what I have witnessed, the backups generally are caused when people do not know which lane they want to be in...whether it is EZPass or Cash. If you simplify the process and have only one type of toll (automation being the logical next step) the lines and wait time at the toll plazas will most assuredly be reduced.

I would rather our state get rid of the toll collectors who make $60,000 a year plus benefits

What do people do that don't have an EZ Pass account; how do they pay their tolls? Does EZ Pass become "mandatory," i.e., you can't drive on the Turnpike without it?

Why don't we go back to elevator operators. It's the same thing. Most of those mind numbing toll taker jobs are political favors anyway. Just a matter of time before we would have to protect the toll takers from exhaust fumes. Many people avoid EZ-Pass so they can't be tracked. Well if you go through a toll booth your pic is being taken anyway. As a once daily user of the pike I loved EZ-Pass, and support the change.

Just give a big smile while you go into the governments data banks. Apparently, no one in this country knows what ANONYMOUS means any more. I'll be more than happy to take the back roads and not play their game!

Nothing like a big back-up from a work project that ran into the evening rush hour to delay your paid ride on the turnpike and take away 1 hour of everyone's time on the way home last monday. All that wasted time, gas, someone should be explaining what caused this to happen and certainly if there was fault someone be held responsible for that collosal mess. Nothing like having that happen to recongize that maybe changes have to take place. I am 100% for ezpass . Can't we keep the EZpass in the same location on each exit and POST the h--ll out of it so the EZpass drivers can get through.l Why doesn't PA have the EZ high speed lanes like NJ, MD or anywhere else?

For every ezpass lane installed did the Commission already reduce the workforce or did they just continue to carry them on the payroll doing something else? If they didn't it is a sign that the commission should be abolished.

Let me tell you all something that road has been paid for a million times over, its the commission and all the other asses that work for the Turnpike that we are supporting with tolls. Auditor General Jack Wagner has warned repeatedly in recent months the turnpike commission is in danger of drowning itself in debt. The commission has seen its level of debt climb 180 percent since 2007 as the result of a state law that used turnpike toll revenue to cover debt service on borrowing for other transportation projects.

The debt has forced tolls to increase for five consecutive years and prompted some lawmakers to call for resignations of turnpike officials.

The turnpike commission is under investigation by the state attorney general’s office, according to recently unsealed court documents.

The attorney general’s office is trying to determine if the commission “violated any criminal statutes in connection with its employment practices, procurement practices, and use of Commission resources to conduct political activities.”

Now is this what your toll money is supposed to pay for? No its supposed to pay for the toll road nothing more nothing less!!!

More employees are gonna be losing jobs. I dont have ezpass cause i feel im keeping someone from being laid off. I am not thrilled that i am being forced to get an ezpass or a bill it cost money to mail them and put a stamp on it.

and who do they think is going to benefit from Ez-pass? That's right the company putting it in. Plus Maintenance fees and reworking the tolls. Why don't they finish paying off the debt before the sock us with this BS?

They already do this in Florida, it's kind of cool actually.

They already have surveillance cameras in LBC on 95 and 413, and probably other places they haven't told you about. Trust me, if the government wants to find where you're driving, how fast, and when, they can on pretty much any SR. Haven't you noticed all of the lovely cameras on 132? They're not red light cams, they're surveillance. This is the age we live in, for better or for worse, you have no control over big brother.

If you're that concerned, you should buy a bunker in Nevada, smash and recycle your cell, and stop using the internet.

so what if you live in a part of the country that doesn't use ez pass? you have to pay 10% more for using our roads? I hate ez pass. it's a rip off to anyone who doesn't need it regularly. maybe I'll invest in one of those license plate covers that screws with the cameras instead....

Get rid of all the toll booths and put it in the gas tax and then you don't have to worry about EZ pass or sending in your payment when they send you a bill in the mail. I have lived in California and there are thousands upon thousands of miles of "freeway" there, not very many tolls at all, they are the annomally. Just a thought.

If you hate EZ pass, then you have never used it. It is the greatest thing going. I fought it for a few years,because I didn't use the Pike much.(Actually sounded like some of the people on here) A friend kept pushing me to get it. She said when you do use it, you won't regret having it. BINGO! easiest thing going. For the conspiracy theorists, you can follow your account online for the supposed fake transactions and bank debits you like to talk about. Next time you are at Willow Grove or Mid County for Blue Route during rush hour, you will be smiling as you breeze past the crowd.

JES Frist the toll roads are a convenice , there are other ways to go from east to west that are not tolled. Second with the amount of traffic on these roads they need to be maintained, like the bridges. Don't need any bridge collapse. IE Minnasota

Seriously, as they force us all to have these tracking signals placed in our cars, who is to say their next move isn't to put 'readers' (that don't bill) on every major road, and track when and where we go (yes, I'm sure they already do to some extent. how else do they know it's x minutes to center city on the signs on I-95)? Ad agencies putting them in the parking lots of stores to track when and where you shop? etc etc etc. With computers today, it would be easy work to track our every move. Do you really want a walmart knowing everything you do?

3 THINGS.... Automation kills jobs !! Its hard to argue against a more efficient, less costly system !! I personally hate automation because as a customer the service is less with an auto-system !! If I were the business owner, I would see it the other way around !! The big question that I keep coming to is that it is not easy to stop !! I don't like them tracking me and having my acount info. ?!@#$%^&*... WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SAVINGS THAT WILL BE CREATED ??? WILL SOME OF IT BE PASSED ON TO THE USERS ??? MARK MY WORDS...THEY WILL COME UP WITH RIDICULOUS REASONS WHY THERE WILL BE AN INCREASE IN THE TOLL AFTER IT IS ALREADY IN EFFECT AND IT'S TOO LATE.

As I see it I have an option. I will not use it. I refuse to give them my account info. Have they calculated how many will find other routes? That may be the reason they give the remaining users for the increase. Just wait and see. It wont be better. Just different !

SHEEPLE is an accurate discription. Picture an employee saying. "Just give me your money and don't ask directions or anything else... Thats what these automated systems do for the businesses that adopt them. They are telling you that customer service is a thing of the past.
