Trevose Troopers to Hold Weekend DUI Checkpoint
They are trying to reduce the number of fatal DUI crashes.
From Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10, state police from the Trevose station will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint.
According to a release, troopers will systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for behaviors normally associated with alcohol or drug impaired drivers.
They did not reveal the location of the checkpoint.
Police said the checkpoint’s goal is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal and serious crashes and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on state highways.

Does anyone else realize this is a violation of the Consititution? People are being "systematically" stopped to see if they are violating the law. I'm as against intoxicated driving as anyone else but stopping people without there being probable cause is illegal. This is akin to searching your home to look for drugs "just in case". Such erosions of our right to not be searched or questioned without cause is a dangerous direction. Driving down the road is not cause nor reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime.

Agree 100% with Eric. This is BS. But people keep allowing the police to overstep their legal boundaries. This is all about REVENUE generation, as well. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS PEOPLE. And, BTW, what's the pattern or determination for the "systemic"stops? Guaranteed a vehicle with four black males or teens gets pulled over rather than the one with a 72 y/o woman who is on 12 prescription medications and who just had a drink or two with dinner!
