'Underperforming' Ninety Nine Restaurant in Trevose Closes
O'Charley Inc., Ninety Nine's corporate owner, closed 16 restaurants on including the one located on Horizon Boulevard near the Neshaminy Mall.
TREVOSE — All the locals who had 99 reasons to visit their favorite Ninety Nine Restaurant won't be able to do so anymore.
O'Charley's Inc., the Nashville-based restaurant chain, closed 11 underperforming namesake O'Charley's eateries and five of its underperforming Ninety Nine restaurants, including the one at 3617 Horizon Blvd. next to Starbucks near the Neshaminy Mall.
"Our decision to close these restaurants was a difficult one as we understand the impact this has on our team members and the communities we serve," O'Charley's CEO David Head said in a release. It may be especially difficult for Ninety Nine employees with just two weeks until Christmas.
The corporate release stated that impacted cooks, waitresses and managers were offered severance payments and, in some cases, transfers to other Ninety Nine and O'Charley's restaurants.
The company said the 16 closings would permit it to focus energy on improving its remaining 339 restaurants in 25 states.
What about the Trevose store?
"Thank you for calling the Ninety Nine Restaurants," a voice on the restaurant's answering machine said when Bensalem Patch called. "Our restaurant has closed for business. Thank you very much for your patronage over the years."
The recording noted that those customers who have Ninety Nine gift cards and would like refunds can call (855) 553-4006 or email guest.relations@ocharleys.com.
Ninety Nine Restaurants started in 1952 at 99 State St., in Boston, but the Trevose location's lights were extinguished for good on Dec. 14.
