George Duarte, a Faust 5th grader, speaks about D.A.R.E. program.

The latest video on the Bensalem Township YouTube channel features a D.A.R.E. graduation essay by a Samuel Faust Elementary School student.

Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo was very impressed by the speech.

“A fifth grader by the name of George Duarte wrote one of the best essays I have heard in my 19 years of attending those programs,” he said.

In his speech, George stressed his belief that “we are made better because of D.A.R.E.”

“I know that a drug-free life is a better life,” he said. “It is important that we avoid drugs and violence.”

“When I look into the mirror every day, I want to see a man of integrity,” he added.

D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The program's primary mission is to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug-and-violence-free lives. It is taught by local police officers.
