Whiz Kid: Spelling Bee Champ

Local student wins regional spelling bee; earns spot in national bee.

 

Whiz Kid: Visha Parmar

Age, Grade: 14, Eighth Grade

School: Robert K. Shafer Middle School

Accomplishment: Visha is the 2012 Regional Spelling Bee Champion and she will be representing Bensalem Township School District and the entire region in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C at the end of May. She is speller No. 212.

 According to her Scripts profile, Visha likes to cook and watch NBA basketball. Some of her other hobbies include reading, astronomy, music, crochet and playing badminton. Visha plays the clarinet in band at school. She is also in Reading Olympics, Newspaper, National Junior Honor Society and Dance Club. Visha’s first language is Gujurati, and she also speaks Hindi and French. She excels in math and hopes to become a dermatologist. At school Visha has received awards for Reading Olympics, concert band, physical fitness and she is on the principal’s honor list. Visha’s role model is her father who always supports her.
