Bensalem Historic Society Begins Fundraising Push

Three fundraisers that have been scheduled for the coming weeks will benefit the non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Bensalem's rich history.

With it's close proximity to Philadelphia and location next to the Delaware River, Bensalem Township has hundreds of years of rich and notable history wrapped up in its 22 square-miles.

Since 1977, the Historical Society of Bensalem has become crucial for preserving and educating others about the township's past, an important task that depends on the generosity of the public for funding.

Member of the Historic Society of Bensalem will spend the next few weeks making a concerted effort to raise money to help with the non-profit organization's operations and event planning.

  • On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Friendly's Restaurant, 2369 Street Road, will donate a percentage of sales between 5 and 8 p.m. to the society.
  • The Historical Society will host a fundraising flea market on Oct. 12 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at its headquarters at 3211 Knights Rd. Potential sellers can purchase space for $15. Call (215) 752-3673 for more information.
  • Boscov's at the Neshaminy Mall is hosting an all-day fundraiser on Oct. 22. From now until the day of the event, shoppers can buy coupons for $5 that will give them a 25 percent discount during the sale. The coupons will be available at the Historical Society's regular meetings, the flea market and the Fall Festival on Oct. 5.
Membership to the Historical Society of Bensalem is open to anybody who is interested. A single membership is $15 per year, family membership is $20 per year, and a business membership is $75 per year. General meetings are held the first Thursday of each month. Check out the group's Facebook page for more information.
