Hulmeville Road Restrictions Start Monday for $5 Million PECO Project

The section of Hulmeville Road between Mechanicsville and Gibson Road will have lane restrictions and intermittent closures for the next five week as workers make improvements to the underground cable system.

Bensalem drivers feeling a little relief that Mechanicsville Road between Byberry and Galloway Road is opening back up will have a short time to celebrate as the $5 million PECO project moves on to the next phase.

According to a reminder sent by the Bensalem Township Police Department, starting Monday Hulmeville Road between Mechanicsville and Gibson roads will experience lane restrictions and occasional road closures. Traffic will be able to get through with the help of flaggers, so there will be no detours posted.

The work is scheduled to take place Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., sometimes extending to 7 p.m., for the next five weeks. The road may need to close between 11 a.m. and noon during the week of June 24 to June 27, according to an updated press release.

The work is part of PECO's $5 million project to upgrade and expand equipment and systems for the surrounding area.  PECO will add approximately four miles of new underground cable to complete the expansion. The work coincides with the upcoming Richlieu Road bridge replacement, which is a component of the PA Turnpike/I-95 Interchange Project.
