Stormy Weather for the Week Ahead, Says NWS

August has been a wet month, and the National Weather Service says this last week will be no different than the rest.

The Mt. Holly, NJ based weather center is predicting that the Southampton area will see scattered thunderstorms through most of the coming week.

Here's a look at the NWS' detailed 7-day forecast for Southampton:

• Monday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Monday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8pm and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Tuesday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
