Vouchers for County Nutrition Program Available at Senior Center

Bensalem residents 60 years or older can receive a $20 voucher to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.

The following was provided by the Bucks County Commissioners office of communications:

The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, is offering the Farmers Market Nutrition Program to older adults in Bucks County.

The program provides $20 in free vouchers to eligible individuals and $40 for eligible couples, for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets. Vouchers will be distributed at the Bensalem Senior Center at 1850 Byberry Road in Bensalem from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays while supplies last.

To be eligible, recipients must reside in Bucks County and be age 60 or older. In addition, income guidelines are as follows:

  • 1 person: $21,257 or less;
  • 2 people in household: $28,694 or less;
  • 3 people in household: $33,131 or less;
  • 4 people in household: $43,568 or less;
  • 5 people in household: $51,005;
  • and 6 people in household: $58,442

(Note: Seniors who are living in nursing home facilities, convents and residential facilities where meals are provided are not eligible).

You will be required to show proof of residence and age. If you are unable to go to a senior center, a relative or friend may register for you by providing proper identification and a completed proxy form, signed by the recipient. 

Proxy forms are available on the Area Agency on Aging web page (www.buckscounty.org), or may be picked up at the Area Agency on Aging office, 30 E. Oakland Ave., Doylestown; or at one of the Government Services Centers, 7321 New Falls Road, Levittown, or 261 California Road, Quakertown.

Proxy forms, as well as a listing of participating farmers markets, are available at all senior centers.
