The film to be screened is Standing on My Sisters' Shoulders, a documentary by Joan Sadoff, Dr. Robert Sadoff and Laura J. Lipson.

The award-winning film takes on the civil rights movement in Mississippi in the 1950s and 60s from the point of view of the courageous women who lived it – and emerged as its grassroots leaders. These women stood up and fought for the right to vote and the right to an equal education. They not only brought about change in Mississippi, but they altered the course of American history.

Joan Sadoff has lectured to academic, professional and community organizations on the subject of societal change in the family. Joan has often been interviewed as an expert on these issues on television. In addition, she has participated in over 2,000 interviews including survivors of the Holocaust and their families.

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. The Drexel Shrine is located at 1663 Bristol Pike.

Attendees are asked to bring desserts to share. They are asked to include a description of ingredients.
