Nationally-Acclaimed Poet to Read at BCCC

Poet Gerald Stern will do a reading at Bucks County Community College on Dec. 6.

A nationally-acclaimed poet will be in Bucks County for a reading next month.

Poet Gerald Stern will be at Bucks County Community College on Dec. 6 as part of its Wordsmiths Reading Series. The free program beings at 7:30 p.m.

According to his bio, Stern, a Lambertville resident, has written 15 books of poetry.  “This Time: New and Selected Poems” won the 1998 National Book Award.

He has also won the Ruth Lilly Prize, the Wallace Stevens Award, the Jewish Book Award, the Rebekah Johnson Bobbit National Prize for Poetry from the Library of Congress, among many other accolades.

Stern was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets in 2006. For many years, he was a teacher at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

The reading takes place in the Orangery on the Newtown campus, 275 Swamp Rd.

The Wordsmiths Reading Series is sponsored by college’s Cultural Advisory Group, Cultural Programming Committee and the Language and Literature Department.
