The Large Flowerheads Play at TD Bank Park

Concert-goers take a "trip" back to the 1960s.

Groups gathered on the grass for a groovy gig on Wednesday, June 15 at the TD Bank Amphitheater located on Byberry Road to see The Large Flowerheads perform covers of famous 60's songs. The event began shortly after 7 p.m.

The Large Flowerheads are, according to their website, a Pennsylvania-based band that "bring to life the musical sights and sounds of the '60s." The band, consisting of drummer Moe Jerant, organist Dave D'Amelio, and guitarists/mandolinist/sitarists Billy Trexler and Greg Geist, has been together for approximately three years and their repertoire includes The Box Tops, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Cream, and The Rolling Stones, among other hit bands of that era.

  • "Secret Agent Man" originally by Johnny Rivers
  • "Paint It Black" originally by the Rolling Stones
  • "White Rabbit" originally by Jefferson Airplane
  • "California Dreaming," originally by the Mamas and the Papas
  • "Sweet Caroline" originally by Neil Diamond

Refreshments were provided at a cost, and the Bensalem Township Police Department was on the scene to ensure safety and security.

The show was open to the public, but admission was $5 per person and $2.50 for senior citizens (children ages 12 and under enter free) which is a stark contrast to the free shows that were provided in the years prior. In a message from Mayor Joseph DiGiralmo, the mayor explained that the cost was implemented in order to stay within the budget, as the talent is expensive and production costs have "skyrocketed."
