Inaugural "Delaware River Rivalry" Youth Team Tennis League
Youth tennis players from Bucks County (PA) and Mercer County (NJ) enjoyed fun “cross-river” competition in the recently completed USTA Jr. Team Tennis Delaware River Rivalry League.
Teams from Bucks and Mercer counties vied for a chance to advance to the USTA Middle States District Championships scheduled for Mercer County Park on July 15, 2014. Players competed in two co-ed age divisions, 18-and-under and 14-and-under, with matches every other Sunday afternoon during the fall season.
In the 18-and-under division, Mercer County won the team head-to-head competition 5–3. However, in USTA Jr. Team Tennis, championships are determined by overall game score, and in that category, Bucks edged Mercer, 255–248, to claim the championship. The winning team for Bucks was managed by Diane Denny.
