Bensalem Country Club Cancels Bridal Expo

Competition forces golf club to bail out.

Brides who were looking forward to a local expo featuring hometown photographers, florists, DJs and more, might have to wait a while.

The municipally-owned golf club in Bensalem canceled its first planned bridal show this Sunday, Feb. 26 because of competition from bigger venues.

“To put it plain and simple, we were upstaged by a larger event,” said event coordinator Dawn Davis, via e-mail. “Many vendors who were signed up almost 10 months ago, decided they wanted a bigger piece of the pie.”

This is bridal expo season with literally dozens of shows going on in the Delaware Valley on recent and coming weekends including last week’s show at the Bucks County Visitor Center on Street Road.

Davis remains upbeat that the golf club venue will catch on for future events.

“This was Bensalem Township Country Club's first attempt at an expo,” she said. “Based on dates that popped up recently from competitors, we decided to jump our raft and wait for a better ship to come in.”

The Country Club offers dining in beautiful banquet rooms with adjoining patio overlooking its 18th hole. The rooms are available for private parties, weddings, business or social meetings as well as banquets after golf outings.

The Club’s gazebo has a beautiful overview of the 17th hole, along side of the magnificent original farmhouse mansion (circa 1861). This provides guests with a peaceful pastoral setting for a wedding or any event.
