Free Rita's Means First Day of Spring

To mark the first day of spring, Rita's will be giving out free Italian Ice on March 20.

Every year on the first day of spring, Rita's Italian Ice gives away a free, regular size Italian Ice to every guest that stops by a location on March 20.

For more than 20 years, Rita's have been giving away a free icy treat on the first day of spring, according to the company's website. In 2012, more than 1.2 millions cups of Italian Ice were given away.

This tradition continues Wednesday, March 20 from noon to 9 p.m. at all open Rita's locations while supplies last. (Sometime they'll give you a voucher that can be used another time if they're out.)
