The original Gino‘s was founded in 1957 by two former Baltimore Colt football players: Alan Ameche, Captain Gino Marchetti and their long time friend, Louis C. Fischer.

The franchise eventually expanded to 500 restaurants in several states employing 20,000 workers and serving 12 million guests.

Gino's Drive-ins expanded to nearby neighboring states in the mid-Atlantic corridor including New Jersey, Delaware and south-eastern Pennsylvania.

The company was acquired and merged with another restaurant chain in the 1980s.

The restaurant chain was reborn in 2009 thanks to company President Tom Romano, who was sure to bring Marchetti on board. The first new location opened in October 2010 in King of Prussia.
