Health Department Did Not Shut Down Bella Pizza

A representative from the county health department said the restaurant's owner closed the establishment himself.

A sign posted on Bella Pizza on Street Road notes that the restaurant has been temporarily closed.

Readers on Bensalem Patch's Facebook page said that failed health inspection reports forced the restaurant's closure. According to the Bucks County Department of Health's inspection records, the most recent report, conducted on Aug. 12, had 10 violations. The inspector noted dozens of live and dead roaches around the dishwasher, sink and shelves.

Despite the numerous violations, William Roth at the Bucks County Department of Health says the county did not close Bella Pizza.

"We have been working with the owner to get the place up to compliance," said Roth. "He closed the restaurant of his own volition."

According to some sources that know the owner, Charles Krumm, is looking to sell the establishment.
