Trevose CPA Firm Competing for Local Biz Award

If selected, the CPA firm plans to offer half of its $15,000 winnings to the D'Angelo Foundation, an organization founded to help Bucks County residents in need.

D'Angelo & Company in Bensalem is one of 20 finalists competing in Firstrust Bank's Second Annual Philly's Business First Awards.

Finalists were chosen from a strong pool of 535 nominated businesses. The grand prize winner, chosen by votes received through Friday, wins $15,000 to be split with the charity of their choice.

Firstrust Bank said D'Angelo & Company was chosen because of its community service and its focus on honesty and customer service.

Now in the second year, the Philly’s Business First Awards were created to shine a spotlight on local businesses making a positive difference in the community as nominated and voted on by the public.

Last year’s grand prize winner, Frankel & Kershenbaum, a local law firm committed to serving the legal needs of children and their families in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, donated their grand prize to Autism Speaks. In recognition of the generosity of last year’s winner, this year the winners will all choose a charitable partner with whom to split their prize money.

For D'Angelo & Company, the charity choice was a no-brainer, a representative told Patch. The firm intends to support the D'Angelo Foundation, a fundraising arm created to help Bucks County residents in need of financial help for various things ranging from assistance with medical care, to funeral arrangements and more.

"This foundation is a means to make giving to others easier," the foundation's Web site states. "The D'Angelo Foundation is committed to inspiring people to make a difference for others in their own community."

Voting for the Firstrust finalists will close on Friday and a winner will be announced by early February. The public can vote daily at www.bizfirstawards.com
