First Federal of Bucks County presents an additional $30,000 in Annual Contributions to Three Local Organizations

First Federal of Bucks County recently delivered a generous gift of $30,000 which was split equally into $10,000 increments to the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Family Service Association of Bucks County and United Way Bucks County. This donation was made at the suggestion of our board to increase our annual donations in light of our fourth year of record earnings. This donation was in addition to the funds these wonderful organizations already have received throughout the year.

Jeane M. Coyle, First Federal’s President/CEO, along with William L. Larkin, First Federal of Bucks County Board of Directors Chairman, presented the checks to Roger Collins, Executive Director of the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Inc., Audrey J. Tucker, Family Service Association Chief Executive Officer and Jamie Haddon, United Way Bucks County President/CEO, at the bank’s Administrative and Loan Center in Yardley, Pa.

The funds donated to these organizations will assist with their day to day operations along with special events. 

• Bucks County Opportunity Council will use $10,000 to help run its Self Sufficiency Program which to date has helped 244 families gain the education, skills and resources to achieve permanent economic self-sufficiency without future need for cash welfare subsidies.
• Family Service Association of Bucks County will use $10,000 to support a program that provides information, support and referrals for low-to-moderate income elderly and disabled residents of the Bucks County Housing Authority (BCHA) managed housing sites who otherwise would be at high risk of losing their independence.
• United Way Bucks County will use $10,000 to support its “Bucks Knocks Out Hunger” program, which will be held this year on June 20, 2014. The program is designed to bring awareness of those in our community who are food insecure by rallying volunteers to fund and create meals to distribute to local food pantries.

“After confirming our strong performance for 2013, First Federal was able to release an additional $30,000 for charitable contributions in Bucks County,” Coyle said. “We were able to give 5 percent of our net income back to the communities we serve, which is an annual goal we strive to achieve. I am proud of our ability to share our financial well-being with groups that will help those in the community who are less fortunate than we are.  In today’s economic environment, the work that the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Family Service Association of Bucks County and United Way Bucks County are doing is more critical than ever.”
