Are You Ready for A Heat Wave?

The National Weather Service is calling temperatures in the 90s all week with highs closer to 100 on Thursday and Friday.

The Weather Service is likely to issue a heat advisory.

If the weather reaches that point, the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The elderly, infirm, children and pets are at greatest risk especially where there is no air conditioning.

During heat advisories, the Weather Service suggests that you drink plenty of fluids stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

• This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. West wind between 11 and 13 mph.
• Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind at 8 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Light east wind.
• Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. North wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 95.
• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 77.
• Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 78.
