“We’re trying to increase the awareness of scouting and all the opportunities for scouts here in Bucks County,” said Michelle Greco, public relations manager for Visit Bucks County, the county’s tourist promotion agency.

Greco said that her organization has started an ongoing effort to help its partners identify and promote scouting opportunities in addition to reaching out to scout troops to help make the connection.

This has included reaching out to partners to identify scout-specific options – such as regular Boy Scout badge opportunities, as well as other activities that scouting organizations may find interesting.

It’s all about location and diversity, according to Greco.

“We are driveable from so many locations on the East Coast with so many day trip destinations,” Greco said. “Scouts can come in and do so much, whether it involves our nation’s history or nature.”

The activities range from a fun behind-the-scenes tour at the Town Crier Bakery in Peddler’s Village to gleaning apples at Snipes Farm to provide food for New Jersey Farmers Against Hunger.
