Recycle Electronics, Shred Documents for Earth Day

Properly shred your personal documents and recycle your electronics this Saturday in Lower Bucks County.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22, and in celebration, several shredding and recycling events are taking place over the weekend in Lower Bucks County.

Information like social security numbers, medical documents and bank account information are just a few examples of documents that can be disposed of at the shredding events.

For the eighth year in a row, a free shredding event will take place at Bucks County Technical High School on Saturday, April 20. From 9 a.m. to noon people can properly dispose of their personal documents at the event sponsored by Bucks First Federal Credit Union.

Residents of Bensalem can attend the shredding event in the District Office parking lot also held on Saturday, April 20. The shredder event, which is sponsored by State Representative Gene DiGirolamo will be held from 9 to 1 p.m.

But perhaps you have your own shredder and take care of your documents on an as need basis. Luckily there is a household hazardous waste collection taking place on the same day.

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harry S. Truman High School people can bring hazardous items that are around the house. Items such as paint, electronics and scrap metals can be brought to the collection. For a list of accepted materials, visit the Bucks County Planning Commission website.

If you are unable to make this recycling event, Middletown will hold an event on April 27 and Bensalem will host an "Anything with a Plug" recycling event in early May.
