Holy Family junior guard Ervin Ezell was named the CACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6 (01/08/13).

New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University men's basketball junior guard Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6 as announced by the conference office Monday.

This marks the first time in his career that Ezell has been recognized by the conference's weekly honor.

In the team's lone game of the week, Ezell powered the Tigers past Caldwell College in a conference road contest defeating the Cougars, 80-78, in overtime.  Ezell led all scorers with a season-high 29 points after shooting 9-of-16 from the field and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.  He also dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Ezell helped preserve the victory at Caldwell by splitting a pair of free throws with eight seconds to play to give the Tigers a two-point advantage.  He then sealed the victory on Caldwell's final possession as he recorded a steal with two seconds remaining on the clock.

Ezell currently leads the team in scoring and is ranked fourth in the conference averaging 17.6 points per game.  He also leads the CACC with 52 steals and is ranked third in Division II averaging 3.71 steals per game.  His 52 steals is the most among Division II competitors.

Holy Family (7-7, 3-2 CACC) is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 12 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
