BOX SCORE

Philadelphia, Pa. - Two first half goals by Philadelphia University turned out to be the difference as the Holy Family University women's soccer team came up short by the score to 2-1 against the visiting Rams in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 2-9-0 overall and 2-5-0 in conference play, while Philadelphia improves to 7-4-0 overall and 7-1-0 in the CACC.

Philadelphia scored its two goals within a span of three-plus minutes of each other.  The Rams tallied their first goal after sophomore Michaela Van Antwerp launched a shot from about 30-yards out finding the upper left part of the net her first score of the season.  Senior Trisha Sileo assisted on the goal that gave the Rams a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

Minutes later, Van Antwerp returned the favor assisting Sileo on her second goal of the season as Philadelphia doubled its lead, 2-0, in the 35th minute.

The score remained 2-0 in favor of the Rams until late in the second half.  Freshman Stephanie Fischer (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) cut the lead in half as she scored her first collegiate goal to make the score 2-1 in the 70th minute.  Fellow classmate Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) assisted on the play.

Despite the late surge that would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Philadelphia defense kept the home squad off the scoreboard the final 15-plus minutes.

Senior goalkeeper Rachel Dunkle (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) made nine saves in net for the Tigers after facing 21 shots by Philadelphia.

For Philadelphia, senior Kelli Kowalewski made four stops in net.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 as the Tigers host Bloomfield College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
