Holy Family women's lacrosse player Brigit LaRose named CACC Co-Rookie of the Week
New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University women's lacrosse player Brigit LaRose (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 14 as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
LaRose shares this week's honor with Christina Brennan of Dominican College. This marks the second time this season that LaRose has been recognized with the conference's rookie honor. She previously earned the accolades for the week ending March 10.
LaRose helped lead Holy Family to a 2-1 week against conference opponents. After falling to cross-town rival Philadelphia University (16-5) on Tuesday, the Tigers bounced back with two straight wins over Wilmington University (17-9) on Thursday and at Post University (17-7) on Saturday. As a result of the team's two victories, the Tigers clinched the number two seed in the CACC South Division.
The junior attack led the Tigers with ten goals this past week. She also tallied six ground balls and caused two turnovers. LaRose led the team in scoring with a season-high give goals against Wilmington and followed that performance up with a four-goal outburst in the victory at Post.
This season, LaRose has tallied 32 goals to go along with 12 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Holy Family (9-5, 6-2 CACC) is back in action on Wednesday, April 17 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill College in the team's final home regular season contest of the season. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
