Mann Named WBCA Honorable Mention All-America

Senior Erin Mann was named WBCA NCAA Division II All-America Honorable Mention (3/26/13)

Philadelphia, Pa. - Holy Family University women's basketball senior Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) can add another postseason accolade to her resume as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced this year's Division II Coaches' All-America Team.  Mann was named to the Honorable Mention team.

Mann is only the second player in program history to earn Division II All-America honors.  Former standout Catherine Carr (2007-2011) was recognized as Honorable Mention All-America in 2010 and became the first player in program history to earn All-America status in 2011.

“This is a great explanation mark on her career,” said head coach Mark Miller.  “It is a well deserved honor after the season she had this year.  It's a remarkable way to cap her four-year career as she improved each year.  It's a fantastic honor and I'm very proud of her.”

WBCA All-America Honorable Mention honors top the list of postseason accolades that Mann has received this season.  She recently received Daktronics All-America second team accolades after being selected the Daktronics Most Outstanding Player in the East Region to go along with All-East Region first team honors.

Furthermore, Mann was named this year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year as well as earning All-CACC first team honors.

Mann capped her senior year averaging a career-high 18.4 points per game, which was second most in the CACC this season.  She led the conference with a .535 shooting percentage and was tops with a career-high 90 blocks.  Furthermore, Mann finished the year sixth with 258 total rebounds.  She averaged 8.3 rebounds per game during the course of the season.  Mann also led the team with 12 double-doubles.

Mann concluded her four-year career as one of the program's all-time scorers with 1,881 career points ranking third on the all-time scoring list.  She is also fourth all-time with 916 career rebounds.  Mann is the only player in program history to score at least 1,800 points and record at least 900 rebounds in a career.  In addition, Mann is second all-time with 247 career blocks.

The three-time All-CACC selection helped lead Holy Family to its second straight conference championship after scoring a game-high 26 points in the team's 66-56 victory over Caldwell College in the CACC Championship Final.  She was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for the second straight year.

As a result of the team's conference championship, the Tigers received an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament.  It marked Holy Family's tenth straight appearance as the Tigers made it to the East Region semifinals for the eighth consecutive year.   Holy Family finished the year with a 28-3 record.

Mann was one of five players from the East Region to earn honors from the WBCA.  Lauren Battista (Bentley) and Bianca Simmons (UMass Lowell) were among the ten student-athletes that were named to the All-America team, while Mary Louise Dixon (Stonehill) and Courtney Finn (Bentley) were named Honorable Mention.

Founded in 1981, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls.
