McNesby Sets Scoring Record as Tigers Defeat Georgian Court, 18-12

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior Stephanie McNesby (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) became the Tigers' all-time leading scorer after totaling four points as the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Georgian Court University by the score of 18-12 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field. 
 
Holy Family, winners of three straight, improve to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while Georgian Court falls to 4-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the CACC.  The win marked the Tigers fourth straight victory over the Lions as both teams were facing one another for the first time since last year's CACC Championship Final.  Georgian Court won the first seven meetings in the all-time series. 
 
McNesby tallied a pair of goals and assists to finish with four points as she passed former standout and teammate Gina Mansi (Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) (2009-2012) for the program's all-time points record.  With her assist on sophomore Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace)'s goal at the 11:06 mark of the second half, McNesby recorded career point 185 passing Mansi on the all-time list.  Mansi recorded 184 points during her four-year career.  McNesby also recorded a game-high eight draws. 
 
Lancetta, along with junior Brigit LaRose (Lumberton, N.J./Holy Cross), led the Tigers with four goals in the victory.  Senior Maria Mattioli (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Nazareth) and freshman Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) each added three goals apiece.  Senior Jessica Maloney (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) came through with a team-high six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
For Georgian Court, junior Molly McCourt led the team with three goals to go along with two ground balls and two draw controls.  Senior Corrine Coyle, junior Stephanie Gallo and freshman Melissa Williams all scored a pair of goals for the Lions.
 
Holy Family never trailed in the game as the Tigers scored the game's first four goals to lead 4-0 early in the first half.  The Tigers allowed their first goal with 10:21 to play in the first half as Georgian Court got on the scoreboard after McCourt's first goal of the game.
 
At the close of the first half, Holy Family held a 6-3 lead. 
 
In the second half, Holy Family continued where it left off from the first half scoring three straight goals to increase the lead to 9-3.  Mattioli scored back-to-back goals to open the second half scoring, while junior Marissa Lawson (York, Pa./Central York) capped the mini run with her only score of the game. 
 
Georgian Court went on to fire off three straight goals to bring the lead to 9-6, however Holy Family responded with its biggest run of the game.  The Tigers exploded for six straight goals over a four-plus minute span to lead 15-6. 
 
Despite a late run by Georgian Court the Tigers had the game well in hand as the Lions brought the score to 17-12 with 2:42 to play in regulation.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made eight saves in net for the Tigers, while sophomore Amanda Cathcart stopped 11 shots for the Lions.
 
Holy Family outshot Georgian Court, 37-27, and controlled the draw, 22-10.  The Tigers controlled 17 of the 22 draws in the second half. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, April 9 as the Tigers host cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
