BOX SCORE

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the season after falling to visiting Nyack College by the score of 4-2 Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family is now 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the CACC, while Nyack improves to 3-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.

Nyack tallied three first-half goals to take control of the game in the half.  The Warriors first goal came within the first three minutes of action as freshman Maxi Fuchs found the back of the net after receiving a pass from sophomore Ben Kwast.

Later in the half, Nyack doubled its lead with the first of two goals from senior Marco Likos.  Likos' goal came in the 24th minute as Kwast assisted on the play for his second helper.

However, minutes later Holy Family slimmed the Nyack lead in half as senior Dodji Freitas (Philadelphia, Pa. (Togo)//Samuel Fels) headed the ball into the back of the net from a pass by sophomore Nicolas Delgado (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic).  It marked Freitas' sixth goal of the season as the Tigers cut the lead to 2-1 in the 26th minute.

Before the first half was over Nyack would go on to tack on another goal as Likos scored his second of the game as he converted a direct kick from 20-yards out to make the score 3-1 in the 33rd minute.

In the second half, Nyack added another goal to its lead in the 66th minute as Kwast came through with a breakaway goal scoring the ball in the lower left portion of the net.

Holy Family would go on to score in the 79th minute as freshman Kevin Pohl (Trevose, Pa./Father Judge) scored his first career goal.  Pohl headed in a corner kick pass from senior Jeffrey Wimsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) to cut the lead to 4-2.

Despite the late goal, that was the final score of the game, as both teams remained scoreless the final ten minutes of action.

Both goalkeepers, Holy Family senior Kelly Diaz (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) and Nyack senior Jodel Wright, each made four saves in net for their respective teams.

Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 18 as the Tigers travel to face Mercy College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
