Tigers Defeat Dowling, 7-2

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's tennis team picked up a non-conference victory over Dowling College by the score of 7-2 Sunday afternoon at the Torresdale Frankford Country Club Tennis Courts. 
 
Holy Family improves to 4-3 overall with the win, while Dowling falls to 0-2 overall. 
 
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the match taking all three doubles competitions in convincing fashion.  Juniors Maja Pantelic (Palic, Serbia) and Steicy Castro (London, England/Norwood) picked up a shutout win at second doubles by the score of 8-0, while sophomore Casey Borish (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and freshman Jacqueline Clyne (West Islip, N.Y.) did the same at third doubles.  
 
Holy Family capped doubles play with an 8-3 victory at the number one spot as senior Juliana Victoria (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) teamed up with freshman Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia) for the win. 
 
In singles action, Castro, Borish and Clyne all picked up straight set shutout victories winning their respective matches, 6-0, 6-0.  Castro won at fourth singles, Borish was victorious at fifth singles and Clyne picked up the victory at sixth singles.
 
Pantelic won her third singles match over Amber O'Malley winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 for the Tigers.
 
Dowling picked up victories at first and second singles.
 
Holy Family is back in action next weekend as the Tigers compete in the ITA Regional Tournament.
