Tigers Defeat West Chester, 6-3, in Non-Conference Match

West Chester, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's tennis team won its tenth match of the season after defeating West Chester University in a non-conference road contest by the score of 6-3 Thursday afternoon.
 
Holy Family improves to 10-9 overall after the victory, while West Chester falls to 13-8 in its regular season finale. 
 
Holy Family opened the match with a 2-1 lead after winning two of the three doubles competitions.   The Tigers picked up identical 8-3 victories in second and third doubles.  Junior Maja Pantelic (Palic, Serbia) teamed with sophomore Casey Borish (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) at second doubles, while freshmen Jacqueline Clyne (West Islip, N.Y.) and Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia) won at third doubles.
 
West Chester seniors Brittany Counts and Allison Fetter recorded the team's lone point in doubles with a hard-fought 9-7 decision at first doubles against Holy Family senior Juliana Victoria (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Nuevo Mundo) and junior Steicy Castro (London, England/Norwood). 
 
In singles action, Holy Family won the top-three flights in straight sets to help seal the match victory.  Victoria defeated Counts at first singles by the scores of 6-4, 6-3, while Nersesyan defeated Fetter, 6-1, 6-0, at second singles.
 
At third singles, Castro defeated senior Alexandra Santoro by the scores of 6-3, 6-3.  
 
Pantelic also won in singles play as she defeated junior Haley Wissinger in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 at fifth singles. 
 
West Chester earned points at fourth and sixth singles.   Sophomore Jami Dumler came away with 6-3, 6-1 victory against Borish at fourth singles, while freshman Nicole Nardi earned the victory at sixth singles versus Clyne (6-3, 6-0).
