The exhibition with UConn will be the Tigers' final live game experience before opening the 2012-13 season on the road at #2 Bentley University on Sunday, Nov. 11.

“For us, the exhibition with UConn is a great experience and opportunity,” said head coach Mark Miller.  “It's something as players and coaches we won't forget.  It will be great to play a team like UConn and have the experience.”

Miller continues, “We are going to approach this game like we would any other game.  We are going to compete, play hard and look to execute on offense and defense.  Our main goal is to come in and have this game help prepare us for Sunday [at Bentley].”

Holy Family is coming off a season that saw the team finish 26-8 overall and winning the program's sixth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship since 2001.  As a result, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the ninth straight season.  Holy Family went on to advance to the East Region Final for the third time in program history.

Holy Family was recently tabbed 12th in the ESPN/USA Today and ninth in Women's Division II Bulletin preseason polls.  The Tigers return ten veterans from last year's squad, including All-CACC selections in seniors Kelly Brady (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) and Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy).  Holy Family will welcome four newcomers to this year's team.

Brady earned All-CACC honors for the first time in her career after receiving Honorable Mention accolades.  Brady had a career season lat year as she averaged 8.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  She also shot a conference best .610 percent from the field (122-200).

Mann, who earned All-CACC first team honors last year, led the team in scoring as she averaged 18.1 points per game to go along with a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game.  Mann was also selected to the Women's Division II Basketball Super 16 Preseason Selections.

UConn finished the 2011-12 season with a 33-5 overall record and a trip to its fifth consecutive Division I Final Four.  The Huskies also won the Big East Championship and return four starters from last year's squad.  Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led the team averaging 15 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Bria Hartley was selected to the 2011-12 WBCA/State Farm All-America Team after averaging 14 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

The Huskies are ranked #2 in the Associated Press Top-25 Preseason Poll as well as the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.
