Tigers Inch Closer to Postseason With 3-0 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia, Pa. -  The Holy Family University women's volleyball team improved its potential postseason status with a 3-0 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Thursday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium. Holy Family defeated the Griffins in three sets by the score of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-16.
 
Holy Family improves to 13-17 overall and 11-7 in conference play, while Chestnut Hill falls to 8-21 overall and 4-14 in the CACC.  With the win, Holy Family currently sits tied for third place in the CACC South Division standings with Georgian Court.  The Lions also 11-7 in conference play, fell to USciences this evening by the score of 3-1.  The Devils (10-8) trail both Holy Family and Georgian Court by one game in the standings.  Holy Family will clinch a postseason spot with a win versus Dominican College on Saturday. 
 
Holy Family had three players record ten kills, including junior Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro), sophomore Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and freshman Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) to lead the offensive attack.  Ambach recorded an attack percentage of .562, while Herring led the team with three service aces. 
 
Junior Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) finished with a match-high 35 set assists to go along with nine digs.  Freshman Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) tallied seven kills and four digs, while fellow classmate Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) recorded eight digs and five set assists.
 
For Chestnut Hill, Alexandra DePalma led the team with seven kills and eight digs.  Deanna Bianchini led the defensive side with 15 digs, while Alyssa Tamsing finished with a team-best 11 set assists. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 3 as the Tigers host Dominican College in a key CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 12 p.m. Prior to the match; Holy Family will recognize its three seniors competing in their final regular season contest, including Mackenzie Bickes (Orchard Lake, Mich./Mercy), Christina Mastroeni (Belleville, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and Cara Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley).
