Tigers Open Outdoor Season at Stockton Invitational
Holy Family men's and women's outdoor track & field competes at Stockton Invitational (3/23/13)
RESULTS
Pomona, N.J. - The Holy Family University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams opened the 2013 outdoor season at the annual Stockton Invitational hosted by Richard Stockton College Saturday afternoon.
Both teams combined for nine top-ten finishes during the course of the afternoon. Junior Dominique Thomas (Laurelton, N.Y./Law Government Service Magnet) highlighted the afternoon with a second place showing in the 400-meter dash. Thomas finished in a time of 1:00.40. Fellow classmate Delainey Price (Cheltenham, Md./Frederick Douglas) followed close behind as she finished eighth overall in a time of 1:01.96.
Freshman Jennifer Boyle (Monroe Woodbury, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) came away with a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run as she finished in a time of 2:31.22. Sophomore Sarah Bariglio (Vineland, N.J./St. Joseph HS) recorded a 12th place finish in the 200-meter dash clocking a time of 27.93 seconds.
In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) picked up an 11th place finish to start the season as she finished in 19.40 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Jeanne Berry (Mallaga, N.J./Delsea Regional) finished third overall in the javelin event. Berry recorded a distance of 120' 1” (36.60m) in her first collegiate contest. Abramski also competed in the field events as she finished 16th in the long jump (13' 7”/4.14m).
Junior Rachel Dillinger (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) competed in the shot put event along with the discus event for the Tigers. Dillinger finished 13th overall in the shot put with a distance of 31' 7.75” (9.54m). In the discus, she finished 15th overall with a distance of 94' 1” (28.67m).
On the men's side, junior Travis Perinho (Riverside, N.J./Riverside) highlighted the track events with a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Perinho finished in 16.59 seconds. Senior John Hill (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) also recorded a top-ten finish as he took eighth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Hill recorded a time of 10:47.32 in the event. He also competed in the 800-meter run and finished 15th overall (2:10.66).
Freshman Louise Simone (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) finished tenth in the 400-meter dash as he clocked in at 52.69 seconds. Also competing in the track events was senior Patrick Monteith (Philadelphia, Pa/LaSalle) who 18th overall in the 100-meter dash. Monteith recorded a time of 12.37 seconds.
In addition, senior David Richardson (Fairless Hills, Pa.) finished the afternoon with a top-20 finish in the 1,500-meter run. Richardson finished 14th overall after crossing the finish line in 4:28.10.
In the field events, the Tigers cleaned up with three top-15 triumphs. Junior Thomas Mandese (Woodridge, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished fourth overall in the shot put event as he recorded a distance of 42' 10.25” (13.06m). He also finished 11th in the discus event with a distance of 99' 9” (30.40m).
In the long jump, Perinho led with a seventh place finish to go along with his third place finish in the 110 hurdles. Perinho recorded a jump of 19' 55” (5.93m). Mandese, competing in his third event, finished 23rd overall as he recorded a jump of 13' 8.75” (4.18m).
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, March 30 as the Tigers compete at the Towson Invitational hosted by Towson University.
