Tigers Overpower Chestnut Hill, 86-53; Mann Reaches Career Milestones

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team came away with its fourth straight victory after defeating Chestnut Hill College by the score of 86-53 Wednesday night at the Sorgenti Arena. 
 
Holy Family, ranked 11th in the recent USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, improves to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in conference play.  Chestnut Hill is now 2-14 overall and 0-9 in the CACC.  With the win, Holy Family maintained its one game lead over Goldey-Beacom College in the CACC South Division.  The Lightning improved to 9-2 in conference play after defeating Philadelphia University tonight (76-52).
 
Senior Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) finished with a game-high 18 points and grabbed five rebounds as she reached a career milestone surpassing 1,600 career points and 800 career rebounds becoming just the third player in program history to reach such milestone.  Mann joins former Holy Family standouts Kristina Weise (1,734 points/1,090 rebounds) and Lauren Tanel (1,656 points/932 rebounds) to record at least 1,600 points and 800 rebounds in a career.  Mann currently has 1,617 points and 804 rebounds in her career. 
 
Mann quickly reached the milestone as she scored the game's first basket the first :15 seconds of the game and then grabbed her 800th rebound :68 seconds later after scoring points 1,600 and 1,601. 
 
Junior Maggie Serratelli (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) scored in double-figures providing the Tigers with 17 points off the bench.  Serratelli drained a pair of three-pointers and dished out two assists.  Senior Kelly Brady (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) recorded a game-high 11 rebounds and scored eight points, while fellow classmate Ana Cruz (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) added 13 points and four assists.  Junior Mary Ellen McCollum (Abington, Pa./St. Basil Academy) also scored in double-figures with ten points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
 
For Chestnut Hill, sophomore Lila Jones scored a team-high 14 points after shooting 6-of-8 from the field.  Senior Latoya Laing also scored in double-figures after knocking down three three-pointers to finish with 11 points. 
 
Holy Family opened the game on a 16-3 run and never looked back as the Tigers cruised to the lopsided victory.  The Tigers led by 24 points at the half by the score of 44-20. 

The Tigers shot nearly 50.0-percent from the field for the game (31-64) and converted 17-of-20 free throw attempts.  Holy Family also controlled the boards as the Tigers outrebounded the Griffins, 51-31.  Holy Family totaled 33 defensive boards and 18 on the offensive end. 
 
The Holy Family defense limited Chestnut Hill to 29.7-percent shooting from the field and 26.9-percent from beyond the arc. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 26 as the Tigers host Bloomfield College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
