Tigers Ranked 5th in East Region

The Holy Family women's basketball team is ranked 5th in the first installment of the NCAA Division II East Region Rankings (02/21/13)

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team is ranked fifth in the East Region in the first installment of the NCAA Division II Regional rankings of the 2012-13 season as released by the NCAA. The East Region is made up of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the East Coast Conference (ECC) and the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10). 
 
Holy Family, ranked sixth in the recent USA Today/ ESPN NCAA Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, is currently 23-2 overall and 17-1 in the CACC after defeating Chestnut Hill College, 61-55, Tuesday night.  The win capped a perfect regular season home record for the Tigers (13-0).
 
Bentley University, ranked #1 in Division II, is the top team in the East Region and is followed by fellow Northeast-10 rival #14 Stonehill College in the rankings.  15 Dowling College and 17 New York Tech, both from the ECC, are ranked third and fourth respectively.  Holy Family rounds out the region's top-five teams.
 
The rest of the regional rankings are as follows with UMass Lowell (NE-10) ranked sixth, followed by Assumption College (NE-10), LIU Post (ECC), Franklin Pierce University (NE-10) and the University of Bridgeport (ECC). 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as the Tigers travel to face Goldey-Beacom College in the regular season finale.  Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
 
The NCAA will release two more regional polls in the coming weeks on Feb. 27 and March 6.
