Wysocki Named CACC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Hunter Wysocki named CACC Rookie of the Week (11/12/12)



New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University men's basketball forward Hunter Wysocki (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11 as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. 
 
In addition, junior Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) was named to the CACC Weekly Honorable Mention. 
 
Holy Family went 1-1 to open the 2012-13 season this past weekend at the Don Callan Classic hosted by Cedarville University.  The Tigers won their season opener in a double-overtime thriller with a 74-72 victory over Cedarville.  Holy Family dropped its final contest of the weekend to Urbana University by the score of 62-50.
 
In his first collegiate contest, Wysocki came off the bench and supplied the Tigers with 12 points and 11 rebounds to record a double-double in the win at Cedarville.  He shot 5-of-9 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.  Wysocki also recorded two steals.  Against Urbana, Wysocki finished with eight points (3-3 fg) and two rebounds.
 
Wysocki is averaging 10.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game so far this season and is shooting .667-percent (8-12) from the field.
 
Ezell led the team in scoring in both contests over the weekend.  Against Cedarville, Ezell scored a game-high 28 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists and five steals.  The junior transfer also came through with the go-ahead basket with :30 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. 
 
Ezell followed up that performance with a 15 point showing against Urbana.  He also recorded three steals and two rebounds.  Thus far, Ezell is averaging 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as well as 4.0 steals per contest.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Friday, Nov. 16 as the Tigers host Molloy College in a non-conference contest.  Game time for the team's home opener is slated for 7 p.m.
