Bucks County Museums offer FREE Admission to Military Personnel through Labor Day!

Calling all active duty military personnel and families! Museums throughout Bucks County are proud to partner with the Blue Stars Museum Program, an initiative providing free admission to museums across the country for servicemen and women through Labor Day. Explore historic Bucks County and take advantage of this great opportunity!

·         Travel the historic Mercer Mile for a peek into the accomplished works of historian and archaeologist, Henry C. Mercer. Explore the Mercer Museum’s towering displays of 40,000 collected items from minute handmade tools to large artifacts including a Conestoga wagon. Next, visit Mercer’s home built in the early 1900s, Fonthill Castle. Attracting thousands of annual visitors, the castle is decorated in Mercer’s acclaimed Moravian Tiles coupled with varied architectural styles and fine craftsmanship.

·         Explore local art with the eye-catching pieces found at the James A. Michener Art Museum. Admire the diverse collections including impressionist paintings, a lush sculpture garden and conclude your visit with a peaceful walk into the Japanese-style reading room.

 

·         Discover the newly-renovated museum of a true humanitarian, Pearl S. Buck, at the Pearl S. Buck House and Historic Site. Decorated in her global accomplishments, tour the house of this Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning author and explore the perennial beauty of the gardens and rustic barn. Be inspired to take on your own philanthropic endeavors!

 

·         Explore the riverside home of prominent Bucks County figures at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum. The Grundy family, one of the first local European settlers, has worked in tandem to provide the Bristol Borough with a direct source of political and educational information. This Victorian-style home contains a rich history from the political meetings held in the library to the delicate fine china found in the dining room.

 

·         Have hands-on fun with your kids at the Bucks County Children’s Museum in New Hope. Incorporating the diverse culture and expansive history of Bucks County, the museum offers families six exciting exhibits filled with engaging activities. Travel across the Town Square in the BCCM Express or discover your child’s inner archaeologist at the Artifact Dig.

 

·         Travel back in time to Pennsbury Manor! The 17th-century, 43-acre property offers visitors a first-hand look into William Penn’s home and lifestyle with demonstrations and events. Take a guided tour to learn about Pennsbury’s broad history including tales of the residents and a walk through the Manor House and on-site stables to see the animals.

 

·         Walk on the same grounds as General George Washington and his Continental Army at Washington Crossing Historic Park. On Christmas night, Washington and his brave men crossed the Delaware River to successfully defeat the Hessian troops in Trenton, New Jersey, setting the tone for their future battles. Explore the park’s new Visitor Center, featuring an exhibit and movie about Washington’s late night crossing.
