February Happenings in Bucks County

With winter in full swing, find fun ways to escape the bitter cold in Bucks County! February may be the shortest month of the year, but it is filled with exciting events and activities. Whether you sip champagne with your loved one, take in a show at a historic theater or watch a spectacular circus aerialist demonstration, Bucks County has the perfect entertainment for you this month.

·         February 1 – Voyage through Spain’s cultural history with a performance by the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre at the Bucks County Performing Arts Center. Travel from Spain to Mexico to Peru as you watch traditional Spanish dance performances that are sure to dazzle.

·         Through February 2 –Take an emotional journey during the Actors' Net of Bucks County’s performance of “The Night of the Iguana” by Tennessee Williams. Set in 1940 Mexico, watch as ex-minister T. Lawrence Shannon confronts his demons and attempts to regain his sanity and self-respect.

·         February 7 – Spend a romantic evening with your loved one at Crossing Vineyards and Winery. Celebrate Valentine’s Day while learning about the world’s most romantic wine during the Winery’s Champagne for Lovers event.

·         February 14-15 – Bucks County native, Justin Guarini, returns to the Bucks County Playhouse stage for “Lovesick,” a tribute to all the places love has taken him. Hurry and get your tickets! This new show is only in town for two nights only.

·         February 15-16 – Take a romantic getaway with your special someone to the Radisson Hotel Philadelphia-Northeast. Listen to romantic sounds of The Duprees as they perform some of their hit doo-wop singles from the 1960s, enjoy dinner in the Atrium Restaurant and spend a night in a comfortable room or suite.

·         Through February 16 – Learn life’s most important lessons during a performance of “Tuesdays With Morrie” at the Bristol Riverside Theatre. Based on the novel by Mitch Albom, the show takes audience members on a journey through the last stages of life.

·         February 23 – Come out for a night of fun and laughter when Creed Bratton, best known for his role on the NBC TV hit series “The Office,” comes to Sellersville Theater. Bratton is joined by his band The Rubbermen to perform material from his recent album/audio biography.

·         Through February 28 – Local female artists present their work in the exhibit Broads with Brushes hosted at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem . View the works of talented female artists Ilene Rubin, Libby Wheeler, Lucia Grilletto, Susan Eckstein, Jeanette Gonzales and Cindy Roesinger as they capture Bucks County and the world on canvas.

·         Through March 9 –See the work of some of Bucks County’s most talented photographers when the Arists of Yardley presents the 4th Annual AOY Photography and Skilled Crafts Show. Titled “Elements,” the show features photographs, ceramics, sculpture and jewelry from AOY’s talented members. 

·         Through March 16 – Come one, come all to the Mercer Museum for a unique and exciting behind-the-scenes look at the circus during the “Step Right Up! Behind the Scenes of the Circus Big Top, 1890-1965” exhibit! The month-long exhibition displays the dramatic spectacle, vibrant past, and the continuing presence of this American theatrical tradition. One of the highlights of the exhibit is the Circus Aerialist Demonstrations, in which performers from the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts perform acrobatic feats high above the audience members. Performances are scheduled for February 2 and 16, as well as March 2. Circus arts workshops, panel discussions and children’s arts and crafts programs are also planned throughout the event.
