2 Convicted Felons Charged in Botched Drug Deal Shooting

Two convicted felons have been charged in connection with an alleged botched drug deal Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of Creekside Apartments in Bensalem. 

Joshua Lake, 24, of the 200 block of Devon Road in Fairless Hills and James Quinn, 25, of Creekside Apartments, 2500 block of Knights Road in Bensalem, were arrested on Tuesday and each charged with eight felony counts and eight misdemeanor counts, including aggravated assault, conspiracy, possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and possession of a firearm prohibited. 

Bensalem Police allege that Lake and Quinn–both convicted felons–had arranged to meet a Philadelphia man at the apartment complex for the purpose of buying marijuana, according to the criminal complaint. 

A dispute ensued, according to police, and Quinn fired "at least one round" from a Ruger .357 Magnum revolver that he allegedly took as he left the complex at about 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Quinn was "upset" that the man reportedly took his money without providing marijuana, according to court documents. 

Lake arranged the drug deal with a man he knew from prison, according to court documents. He told police during questioning that he took the gun from Quinn and fired "several rounds" at the man as he was driving out of the parking lot, police said. 

Quinn and Lake, because they are both convicted felons, are not permitted to possess a firearm. 

The Philadelphia man's vehicle had a shattered rear window from an apparent gunshot, according to court documents. The man reportedly told police that he went to Bensalem to deliver marijuana to "Josh" and his unknown friend. He told police that he got into his vehicle following an argument and fled as gunshots were fired. 

Recovered in Quinn’s apartment was a .357 Magnum revolver with five spent shell casings, according to police.

Quinn and Lake are being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $500,000 bail each. They each await a preliminary hearing tentatively set for Jan. 9.
