On Wednesday, at 9:18 a.m., Cpl. Joseph Altieri responded to a home near Besnalem on the 300 block of Main Street in Hulmeville Borough for a report of a domestic dispute. George Unger, 70, and Roberta Unger, 71, had engaged in a physical altercation that began Tuesday evening and went into Wednesday morning, police said.

The husband had visible injuries to his eye and forearms and the wife complained of pain to her shoulder and left arm from being thrown to the floor, police said.

Roberta Unger said her husband had been allegedly beating her for months because of arguments over his use of alcohol and OxyContin, PhillyBurbs reported. George Unger denied hitting his wife, and said he was defending himself from her physical confrontations, according to the article.

Both of the Ungers were taken into custody for simple assault and taken to the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose station for processing.
