Area Troopers Report Holiday Traffic Incidents

Troop M, which patrols Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton counties, reported 44 crashes, 963 citations and 31 DUI arrests.

 

The regional Pennsylvania State Police Troop, which covers Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties and includes the , issued a recap of travel incidents that occurred during the Independence Day holiday travel period, Wednesday, July 4 through Sunday, July 8 .

Capt. William Teper Jr., commander Troop M, said in a release that during the holiday period area troopers investigated 44 crashes (none fatal) resulting in nine injuries. Five of the crashes were alcohol related.

Troopers issued 963 citations (over half for speeding) and 31 motorists were arrested for DUI.

Regarding seat belts, 108 warnings and 54 citations were issued. There were 16 citations issued for child passenger seat violations.
