Arson Charges Filed in Connection to October Fire

A man is in Bucks County Prison after being charged with felonies and misdemeanors for an October 2012 fire.

A Chalfont man is in Bucks County Prison after being charged with arson, reckless burning or exploding and other related charges in relation to an October 2012 fire in Middletown, according to a court docket.

that charred two cars and damaged the home on 68 Teal Drive in Middletown Township on Oct. 21, 2012. 

According to the court docket, Capria was charged with the following felonies and misdemeanors:

  • Arson-Danger of Death or Bodily Injury
  • Reckless Burning or Exploding- Places Uninhabited or Unoccupied Structure in Danger of Damage
  • Reckless Burning or Exploding - Places Property Having Value That Exceeds $5,000 or Automobile
  • Risking Catastrophe
  • Criminal Mischief/Damaging property Intent, Reckless or Negligible
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person
  • Harassment - Communication Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language
  • Stalking - Repeatedly Commit Acts to Cause Fear
  • Loitering and Prowling at Night Time
  • Arson Endangering Property-Reckless Endangerment of Inhabited Buildings

At the time of the incident, Fire Marshal James McGuire told Patch that he would not comment on whether an arson was being investigated, but the fire was indeed being investigated. The homeowner said the incident was "upsetting" and was asked by police to not discuss the investigation further at that time.

Fire crews from the Langhorne, Middletown and Yardley responded to the scene, where damage to house was minor, the fire marshal said. One of the two cars destroyed in the fire was taken by police as part of the investigation.

Capria was remanded to Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $500,000 bail. A preliminary hearing with District Justice John J. Kelly Jr. is scheduled for Thursday, April 18 at 10 a.m.
