Bensalem Firefighter to Stand Trial on Arson Charges

A probationary firefighter from the Eddington Fire Co. will stand trial on arson charges.

A probationary member of the Eddington Fire Co. who was charged in September with arson stemming from an Aug. 20 fire at the Bucks Meadows Apartments has been ordered to stand trial, according to the Bucks County Courier Times

Police allege that Alberto Acevedo, 19, of Bensalem, acted as a co-conspirator when Robert Schaeffer allegedly ignited trash and debris in a garbage can in the laundry room. The fire forced the entire building to evacuate as the firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Schaeffer has been arrested and charged with setting the Bucks Meadows fire, plus an arson at the Delta Gas Station on Street Road on Sept. 19 and additional counts of burglary and criminal trespass after he was allegedly discovered living in an empty home on Knights Road.

Acevedo remains in Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $75,000, according to court documents. He will be tried on felony counts of arson and conspiracy, as well as misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and failure to control/duty, according to court records.
