Bensalem Man Drove Drunk with Child in Car, Police Say

A 31-year-old Bensalem man has been charged with child endangerment after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with his child on board.

A Bensalem father is behind bars after allegedly driving drunk with his child in the car. 

Dennis Mefford, 31, of the 1300 block of Clover Lane, was arrested on Saturday at 8:35 a.m. and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence of alcohol, and possession of drug-related paraphernalia. 

According to court documents, the DUI charge was Mefford's first offense. He also was charged with having the highest rate of blood alcohol content–.16 or higher. The state's legal limit is .08. 

Mefford was sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail. He awaits a preliminary hearing on Dec. 4.
